McKinley Park Volunteer Corp

Since 2010 Friends of East Sac has sponsored and managed 50 to 100 volunteers on Saturday mornings to work in McKinley Park and Rose Garden on various projects that include cleaning, raking, weeding, pruning, and maintaining the jogging path. To date they have logged more than 8,000 volunteer hours in the park. Volunteers – after a brief training online or in person – also work on their own schedules in the Rose Garden as needed for removing dead roses.

Please email us at friendsofeastsac@aol.com to get on our email list of upcoming volunteer days. Also watch for our work day signs around the park the week before. We welcome volunteers of all ages, and work with schools and service groups to complete required volunteer hours.

Rose Garden Volunteers

No experience is required as members of the Sacramento Rose Society  teach volunteers how to work with plants. If you have  garden clippers that you could bring with you that would be a big help. Also, please bring your garden gloves and be sure to wear closed toed shoes.

Volunteer work includes:

  • pruning McKinley Rose Garden roses and plants
  • park cleanup including trash pickup around the pond
  • raking the park and maintaining the park plants and trees

R.S.V.P.s are requested, though drop-in help will also be appreciated.

You can also register to be a McKinley Park Volunteer and receive email notification of our next volunteer day.
