The Friends of East Sacramento began one night as the brainstorm idea of two women who were passionate about their neighborhood and wanted to showcase it through an annual fundraiser home tour to benefit East Sacramento park beautification projects.
Out of this commitment to their local community, the founders stepped forward in response to the City of Sacramento’s proposed closure of the Clunie Community Center. Now the Friends of East Sacramento is the organizing and fundraising arm to the McKinley Park Center which aims to follow Curtis Park’s Sierra 2 Center’s sustainable community center management model.
For the past 7 years, Friends of East Sacramento has managed the Clunie Community Center and the McKinley Rose Garden, making sure that these important community gems remain open for the public.
